On Tuesday, Mom and the boys headed into town and went exploring. We enjoyed Eastsound, went to the local market bought some postcards, found the Library and checked out a few books, including one of mom's favorites- Mrs. Piggle Wiggle.
After lunch, we went for a hike to the beach at Obstruction Pass State Park.
We fell in behind a group of kids from Yakima on the Nature trail that were getting a botany lesson. About their third stop, they suggested we pass them up and Jonah ran ahead. He then told me to stop and pointed to a fallen tree. He instructed me to look at it and proceeded to give me his version of a lesson of flora and fauna, namely how the tree had fell and hurt itself...:). He was the leader! Too cute.
Mom did not really think .6 miles sounded like much, but that is one way, all down hill. Coming back up hill .6 miles was a challenge for 3 year old legs, but Jonah did it and felt like a real hiker (I made him pose at the trail sign).

Then he made me pose (thus the crooked pics).
Notice how Gus was sound asleep. People who passed us kept giggling. I though Gus was giving them a cheese grin, but then I realized he was passed out, head hanging out of the back pack.
It helped that we were "hunting for secret treasure" and that he was the leader. Also, the amazing discovery of a size 11 (mom's shoe) banana slug that crossed our path!
We collected some pebble and shells at the beach for our "beach in a bottle" project. It was a fun day. Jonah told everyone at dinner about the " nana slug". We also slept very well that night.
