Wednesday was a action packed day with lots of afternoon sunshine.
We went into Eastsound to mail our postcards.
Then we headed to the Funhouse, Orcas Islands' version of a Children's museum and all around WAY cool place to hang out. They have two pool tables...
foosball...
The coolest network of vacuum tubes that transport ping pong balls all over the building.
The had a pitching room, with a gutter that returned the balls..![]()
And a place to wait your turn...
They had a little "Gus sized" play nook under the central staircase.. which he discovered since it wasn't in my eyeline....so cool.
They had a section with huge foam blocks to play with and climb around in...
They had a sheet metal wall with magnetic mazes for marbles to create.
Jonah is getting annoyed that I am interrupting his play to take a picture of his face...
They had a Art and Science "Yurt" room that had a cool class going on, so we could only peek.
They had computers to play on, video game rooms, lots of equipment to check out.
And a climbing wall (sorry about the blurry pic).
As you can tell we had a great time and I fell in love with this place, they thought of so many cool things for kids and I am sure got lots of input from kids for this place. Down to the arcade "crane" game that do not stop until you actually get a prize.
Orcas kids are lucky to have such a community and adult investment in wholesome activities for kids.
Next...We stole dad away for lunch and headed for a quick hike to Cascade Falls.
The old growth trees were just amazing....
When we got back to camp, a big group of campers were headed toward the lake, so we put on our suits, packed up our bubbles and joined them.
Cascade Lake was pretty cold.
Mom trying to take a picture of Gus and be his lifeguard at the same time.
Making sand castles with the campers....
Watching them play on their blow up gator.
What is so great about this beach is that with the rental of the camp, this beach is excusive to those who are using Camp Moran, so we had the dock, beach and canoes all to ourselves. Gus had made friends with the Church staff who were our lifeguards so we went out on the dock to visit.
After dinner we hung out with the campers on the play field.
We played Frisbee with the camp staff and campers, got a spot at the campfire and watched them get it started and stayed for the singing.
This is Pastor Jim reviewing his notes.
It was a great day!
